Built for the first time in 1922, the Gibson F-5 mandolin has been a staple in bluegrass music for over 100 years. This particular instrument dates to 1973 and is a great players grade instrument.
This instrument has had a lot of work done to it over the years. The original cream binding was replaced with a herringbone style binding, a neck reset and full re-fret was done & the fretboard was also planed and radiused as well for playability. The frets in the fingerboard extension have also been removed so as to not interfere with picking. The back of the neck has been sanded down as well and the top has been oversprayed, the back looks to not have been oversprayed and is just the original finish.
This instrument is currently setup well and the neck is nice and straight. The original hard shell case is also included.
