This amplifier is in great playing condition and cosmetically in fair to good condition. Our in-house tech has gone through the amplifier and the following repairs were done:
- Fused hot AC
- Swapped out bad caps
- Fulled cleaned & biased
- Replaced the preamp tubes with JJ 12AX7's and power tubes with Mesa Boogie 6L6GC.
Originally this amp shipped with 2 12AX7 & 2 7025 preamp tubes. One of the 7025 tubes seems to be original and is still working well in the amp. The rectifier tube, while not original, is a vintage Japanese made Signet 5U4GB. All replaced tubes & caps are included with the amplifier. The amplifier came with a receipt from 2004 from a local amp repair shop where similar repairs were done as well as the installation of a 3-prong power cable.
Originally released in 1955, the Tremolux had a few incarnations with different circuitry and tubes with the amp then being discontinued in 1966. This specific amplifier was purchased in the late 1960's and played for some years and the original owner maintained it and repaired it himself. At some point the amplifier went into storage and that's where a lot of the wear on the tolext happened as well as some paint stains. All this wear is cosmetic and the cabinet itself is still in good condition. The amplifier was later owned by the original owners son who had it for a number of years, he is the one who got the maintenance done on the amp in 2004. When we received it from him the amplifier hadn't been used in a number of years necessitating the repairs and maintenance our tech performed on it.
This is a fantastic piece of vintage amp history and is sure to be a great addition to anyones studio collection.
