This is player players grade Gibson Les Paul Junior from the mid to late 50's that has been heavily modified. This guitar has quite the story and we have described and identified it to the best of our abilities.
Year:
- The body and neck have been refinished and there is no serial number anymore. This model was made from mid 1954-58 and is identified with it's flat top, mahogany body, single cutaway, 16 frets clear of the body, unbound rosewood fingerboard, dot inlays, yellow silkscreen logo and model name on headstock.
Original Components:
- Body, neck, fingerboard, inlays and logo
- Frets
- Centralab Pots dating to 1956
Non-Original Components & Modifications:
- Refinished body and neck
- Routing for humbucker pickups and a selector switch
- 1960's GIbson Patent Number Era pickups. Both appear to have been rewound at some point. (1962-65)
- 3 way switch likely from the 1960's
- Aftermarket Schaller Tuners
- Custom made pickguard
- Bridge and tailpiece w/nylon saddles (roughly 1961-71)
- The body features several notable signatures that we are unable to verify their authenticity.
- Bumble bee capacitor (likely from the 1960's)
Playability:
- Plays decent with standard action and light strings
- The frets are low so there is some fingerboard feel when playing
- The tone from the Patent Number pickups is amazing.
Cosmetics:
- Body is covered in many signatures, we are unable to say with any certainty if they are legitimate
- Body has been refinished
- Plenty of cosmetic wear
- Notable wear around frets 1-2 on the back of the neck
Extras:
- Sold with a vintage case (1960-70s)
