This guitar is in good condition with normal cosmetic wear for a guitar of this age. The lacquer has some cracking and some dings but all of this wear is cosmetic and doesn't affect the playability of the guitar. The electronics have been cleaned and are working well, the frets are also in good condition with a good amount of life left. The hardware is also in good condition with the only damage being a small crack by one of the screws on the bridge cover. Overall we would consider the condition to be very good especially considering it's over 40 years old.
This guitar was purchased new in the England by the original owner who has had it until now. All parts are original and in good working condition, the original gig bag is also included.

"The history of Shergold Guitars can be traced back to London 1968, when Jack Golder and Norman Houlder were making guitars for a number of British companies including Burns, Rosetti and Barnes & Mullins. The Barnes & Mullins electric guitars were essentially the first Shergold models, and a few of these B&M labelled instruments are still held by collectors today.
During the early 1970s, the established ‘Hayman’ guitar brand - which was also built by Jack and Norman – ceased production, leaving them to concentrate primarily on firmly establishing the Shergold brand, while still making bodies and necks for Burns guitars and a few others."
This the writeup on this model found in the 1977 Shergold Catalog
"This versatile twin pick-up instrument embodies all the refinement suggested by top players in the beat scene.
CONSTRUCTION:The neck is precision machined and hand finished from seasoned Canadian hard rock maple. The fingerboard is burnished and fretted by hand with generous camber nickel silver T-section fret wire. Sealed with durable polyurethane. The Shergold counter adjustable truss rod maintains perfect level of action with any gauge of string. The hand cut and fitted ivory fingerboard nut ensures correct string height at the first fret.
BODY: Selected kiln dried hardwood chosen for stability and grain. Dimensioned and shaped to give maximum rigidity without excessive weight. Polyester finish.
ELECTRONICS: The bottom selector switch controls the fingerboard P/U in forward position, both P/U's in centre and bridge P/U in back position. The middle switch selects single coil superflux type in forward, out of phase in the centre, and normal humbucker in back position. Combinations of the second and third switches with the first P/U selector offer a greater amount of tone changes without natural harmonic interferance.
PICK UPS: High output humbuckers with individual pole adjustment. Special covers eliminate magnetic eddies to give maxmium harmonic range.
BRIDGE AND TAILPIECE: Individual string height adjustment from six bridge saddles. Harmonic correction by six easily accessible screws located at front of the bridge. All parts heavily chrome plated. King-sized scratch plate.
All Shergold models are available in five finishes: Sunburst, natural, white, cherry red and black. Left-hand models can be supplied at surcharge of 10%.
