A lot of folks don’t know this, but bass strings are way more complex than guitar strings. Where most guitar strings only have a single wind around the core, bass strings have up to four interlocking winds, all wound at different tensions, rotations, and speeds. Because of this, making great bass strings takes tremendous skill and care. The Long Scale Nickel-Plated Steel Roundwound bass string sets have a taper at 37.1" from the ball end. This is the ideal taper-length for all 34″ and most non-string-thru 35″ scale basses.

The Short Scale Nickel-Plated Steel Roundwound bass string sets have a taper at 32.75" from the ball end. This is the ideal taper-length for most 29" and 30" scale basses.

The Medium Medium Scale Nickel-Plated Steel Roundwound bass string sets have a taper at 34.5" from the ball end. This is the ideal taper-length for most 31" and 32" scale basses.
