This guitar is in very good condition with minor cosmetic wear. It has been fully setup and is currently strung with D'Addario EJ16 strings. The most noticeable wear are a few deeper scratches on the back but there are no cracks or major damage and structurally there are no issues. The saddle has been replaced with bone, the nut looks to be original based on the fact that the original nuts were cut so the edges matched the the angle of the headstock edge. The original tuners are still in good condition and working well, they were branded Yamaki and were made by Gotoh. This guitar does not come with a case or gig bag.

The Y40D was an all solid wood guitar patterned off the Martin D-18 and features a solid spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, a mahogany neck, nato fretboard & rosewood bridge. The fretboard inlays on this guitar are made of wood and are very unique. These specs were found in the original catalog and translated as well as we could from Japanese.

This guitar was part of the well known "Lawsuit" era of Japanese guitars that were copying major brands such as Martin & Gibson.

The following information as well as the catalog image was found on daion.com which is a great resource for information on Yamaki and Daion guitars

The WOODCRAFT Series by Yamaki came in four models: Y-40 D, Y-50 D, Y-60 D, and Y-70 D, with the last two models also available as a 12-string. Features were a “all solid wood” construction, intricate wood inlay fret markers, and volute on the back of the headstock. The Y-40D used mahogany, the Y-50D rosewood, Y-60D mahogany, and the Y-70D rosewood. The Y-60D and Y-70D had upgraded tuners with “torque adjustment” and mahogany necks whereas the lower two models had a nato neck. The all wood pickgaurds were sprayed over with lacquer much like the MUGEN Series. Medium gauge strings are listed for the 6-strings and light gauge for the 12-string models.
